Linkedin rocks with 15 million users in India

LinkedIn is the largest professional social networking website has reached a significant milestone – 15 million users in India. LinkedIn started its India operations in November 2009 with a member base of 3.4 million. The company has been founded in December 2002 and launched in May 2003. it is mainly used for professional networking. As of 9 February 2012, LinkedIn reports more than 150 million registered users in more than 200 countries and territories. The largest user base for LinkedIn is from United States.

Europe follows India with 11 million users. LinkedIn user base has crossed the 15 million mark in India, according to country manager Hari V. Krishnan. LinkedIn also introduced special territorial pricing schemes for the advertisement and hiring options in India. LinkedIn has got offices in in Mumbai, Gurgaon and a technology centre in Bangalore, its first such centre outside the US.

 

Another reason for LinkedIn success in India is due to the innovative marketing solutions to build conversations and target audience include AMEX, Wipro, DSP Blackrock and Volkswagen India. Its expected that more companies will follow the path soon. There is also increasing number of companies depending on LinkedIn for the hiring such as ING Vysya Bank, HCL Technologies, Genpact and Larsen & Toubro.
