What motivated you to start your Business?

Frequent requests from friends to bring products such as honey from Coorg everytime I visited Coorg was the initial motivation to start Coorgshoppe

Tell us about your Business

Coorgshoppe was started out of a passion to make it easier for people to access Coorg products and promote local products. We are proud to mention that Coorgshoppe was the first online store in India (and the world) that was exclusively created to promote Coorg products such as coffee, honey and other homemade products. We source the products from local producers to ensure genuineness of the products.

Tell us what an average day in your life looks like.

As a practicing dentist I also have to take care of the clinic along with Coorghshoppe. I have assigned the packing work to a couple of people in Madikeri. During the mornings before initiating the clinic works, I look into the orders for the day and sort them out based on the availability of the products. The order details are conveyed to the respective people and instructions are provided. I then carry on with dentistry. In the evenings I look into the shipping details and update the orders accordingly. Through the day in the midst of my practice I do attend to the query calls of buyers.

One particular skill you got right and gave you best results.

Persistence

What have been your biggest challenges in running your Business so far? How did you overcome these challenges?

Logistics has been the biggest challenge and continues to do so. Damage to products during the transit has been the most worrying aspect of this business. Other aspect of concern is the timely delivery of products. Last mile delivery is problematic in several instances where regular follow up with the logistic companies is a must. I have to admit that I am yet to overcome this challenge.

What have you found the most effective way to get new clients?

Word of mouth! A happy client gets you many more.

What advice do you give to other business owners?

Always have the ‘never give up’ attitude

How did you keep motivated through difficult times?

I look at the positive aspects associated with Coorgshoppe to keep going

What are your Marketing, Funding, and Team Building Strategy?

We are yet to become a bigger organisation. Until then our focus is to build up the number of products that are offered through Coorgshoppe.

Your Achievements?

We have been able to successfully cater to clients based in the farthest locations such as Srinagar, Shimla. In a period of 3 years we have got buyers from almost all major towns across India.
