‘Take chances when young, tell stories when old’ Rathee’s Valuemunch

This Entrepreneurial Story is about Jaisal Rathee Co-Founder of Valuemunch located in New Delhi.

Valuemunch is formed by Jaisal Rathee & Nitish Rathee (Brothers), Jaisal Rathee taking care of the startup.

When did you set out on this venture?

I started working on this venture almost 6 months ago, while I was still in high school, preparing for my 12th Board exams. We launched on April 26th, 2012.

What Motivated you to start your Business?

I was online one day. Daily deals websites were at their peak, with the giants like Snapdeal and Dealsandyou, I noticed how there was no common platform where I could view all the deals, filter through them according to my own preferences. So I started working on a daily deals aggregator.

Later on I realized that the same was now true for e-commerce companies, that it becomes hard to keep track of so many different websites that keep popping up. This seemed like a huge and so far untapped opportunity to me. So I thought of a common platform, where not only could you find all the products online in a single place, but all the daily deals and coupons too.
That’s when Valuemunch was born.

Tell us about your Business….

Valuemunch is a Product discovery website founded on April 26th, 2012.
At Valuemunch, we aggregate and organize tons of deals and products, and showcase them on our platform providing you with a one stop shop for all your online shopping needs.
Valuemunch.com draws products from websites like Flipkart, Indiaplaza, Indiarush, Buytheprice etc., and showcases them on our website. We then allow the user to search for a product they are looking for, showing them the available sources. We also allow users to find products they are looking for through searches, Category selection, price filters, discount filters, source filters etc.
We also run a daily deals aggregator, and the user has an option to switch from shopping to daily deals and vice versa.
Valuemunch currently has over 16,000 products online, and has more to come!

What is a Day in a life of you like….

My day is mostly all work. If I’m not working on something for Valuemunch, I’ll be exploring new business models for different start ups. I guess the only time I get is when I go for my early morning run.

What have been your biggest challenges in running your Business so far..

Biggest challenge so far would be getting the right amount of traffic needed for a site like this to run.

How did you overcome these challenges?

Haven’t yet, still working on it. But i’ll let you know!

What have you found the most effective way to get new clients?

Cold calling works best, but its always better to write an e-mail first.

How did you keep motivated through difficult times?

Hmm, Haven’t had such difficult times yet.
