To recognize 80 years of toy creation, Lego has released this 17-minute story of the company’s history. This short film, which can be found on YouTube tell a story which was started in 1932 and tells a lot more about entrepreneurship which each one of us can learn from. This a story about Ole Kirk Christiansen a wood carpenter who founded a great company and which was handled by this sons and grandsons.
Stuff to learn from this awesome video
- Great companies start with an imperfect idea and build on it
- Believe in quality and don’t cheat your customer
- Make sure you share the same ethics with your team. (ole taught his son not to cheat)
- Start building on your name and start to build brand, right from the beginning. (LEGO means ‘I put together’)
- Ole lost hope When fire stuck his workshop, but being responsible for his sons and his workers inspired him to rebuild Lego
- Keep an open mind and keep looking for new challenges. (ole bought Plastic molding machine)
- Just building a product is not enough, you have to build a system around it. Show how and what benefit your product gives to your customer. Build a story around your product.
- Never stop improving your product (bricks attach to each other)
- Get the best out of any situation and never give up. Take the hard times with the head held high
- Even if you have to give up the idea with which you started with (ex: wooden toys to plastic toys), go for it. Your product should Change with the world. (change is the only constant thing )
- Always keep the sense of quality and keep searching for perfection
- Believe in endless Possibilities
